5. Sensual water woman

IV.     The Native American used the canoe to pass the water from one stage of life to another. The spiritual journey was thought to be a time of transformation; again the water also is going through transition and has parallel symbolism.

4. Ocean and bird

1.
IV.     This is my only picture that does not use human recourses. In a lot of ways it has a more tranquil setting and a broader view.

3. Desirous Water

III. This shows the water from a different perspective having the sand be the main
part almost meeting with the clouds, and a small strip being the ocean.

2. Drops of surrealism

II.     The second picture has an icy background with a hand in the foreground. The ice again is another state that water goes through. This picture represents the transition or transformation.

1. The tire at the end of H2O

                                            I.     I picked that name because I tried to obscure the verisimilitude to which form the H2O was in. Although in reality the water was only 3-4 inches deep, I tried to make the depth ambiguous to reflect emptiness. The tire is on the side to show a tad bit of realism. The point between emptiness (the water) and materials (the tire) show consciousness and balance.

Trial and Error:
Even though the replica has bad quality, this original image also has chemical stains etc. However the good quality originals are drying at the ross school so either you can check them out or take my word.

Artist Statement

Photo lab Artist statement

Water is the most abundant compound on Earth's surface, covering over 70%. In nature, it exists in liquid, solid, and gaseous states. I tried to capture its verity in environments with my photography. We, as humans have named our planet “earth”. For that is the aspect on our planet that  appears to suit our humanly needs most. However water breathes the reason for of our existence as humans. Water carries a mystical essence yet has the utmost coherence. It gives us fresh air and reflects the clear light and emptiness of our universe.

For all my pictures I tried to capture the emptiness and clear light that water reflects in all its natures. I picked 5 still shots that encapsulate what I intended to capture. Even though, I wanted to encase the essence of pure water, I chose a part of humanity, in my favored five, to put them at juxtaposition and show their relationship.

FINALLY

I am finally onto my blog, it took quite a while to find my username and password.

I will post my overall artist statement for the assignment. Then a long with every picture i will post their individual artist statement.
